Insulated glass and high performance windows do a wonderful job reflecting sunrays from entering a building. A side effect of this energy conservation technology is that the reflected sunlight is focused like a magnifying glass and damages turf and flower beds.

Perf Shield a black printed perforated film similarly used on bus wraps. It is applied to the exterior of a window to transform the shiny glass surface into a matte finish while allowing visibility outwards. The reflected sunlight is no longer focused and does little harm.
PERF SHIELD INSTALLATION
BEFORE
Residential sliding window with a screen on the operational side.
AFTER
Perf Shield applied to the left and right side of the windows for maximum protection. The existing screen does provide some sun diffusion so the unscreened side should be done at a minimum.
Interior View Looking Out
Perf Shield reduces annoying sun glare while allowing an outside view. A daytime outside viewer will have a difficult time looking inward.
